Reformer can be associated with a more clinical approach it is highly versatile piece of equipment that you can perform a variety of exercises on for a range of abilities.
Alignment
Each exercise should be carried out with the correct head, spine, shoulder, pelvis, hip, knee and ankle alignment. Keeping good posture will work muscles more effectively putting less stress on the body. Making movement less arduous and easier, mindful movements of how the body is designed to function.
Breathing
Traditional Pilates and Reformer encourage lateral breathing. This promotes expansion of the lungs sideways and backwards and significantly increases abdominal engagement.
Core Engagement
Also referred to as 'centering'. Concerned with engaging a group of abdominal muscles during exercise to offer support and stabilised the spine.
The Reformer is a specialised machine with a gliding platform, with springs and straps attached to provide a dynamic workout.
